On the 1871 census, it states that William was born in Garston, Lancashire; he was living at No. 3 House, 5 Court, Lorton Street, and he was foundry worker.
Ann Miller got married on the 11th. April, 1875 to Henry French, aged 28 years, a widower; he was a bricklayer, and at the time of his marriage, his residence was in Great Orford Street. Henry's father was called John French, and he was also a bricklayer. Their witnesses were Isabella Schutt and August Schutt.
I have details of a Henry French, who was bricklayer and keeper, at the Seaforth Dispensary, Hicks Road, Seaforth in 1875.
On the 1881 Census, Mary was still married, but was the head of the household. She
was living with her children (one or more may have been 'adopted', as Henry was married before), and her mother and two boarders. They were living at 15 Walopole St., West Derby. Her mother was Bridget Miller, who by this time had been widowed, was aged 65 years, and was a Charwoman. On this census, it finally states, whereabouts in Ireland she was from.....Dublin.
